I convert customer supplied 2d drawings into a 3d model based on the measured as-built dimensions. This allows me to keep track of changes and design workarounds for unforeseen problems. I then make shop drawings from the model and quickly find dimensions for fabricating.

In a previous job I helped design, fabricate, and ship portable bandsaw sawmills. I spent a lot of time in CAD developing the flat patterns and CNC plasma cutting them out. I updated the part drawings as improvements and modifications were made.

Designed and 3d modeled a mechanical iris engagement ring box which was then made with a manual mill and lathe. When the handle is turned, all five petals open and close via hidden pins.
